Just look at Orpheus and Eurydice: They are captured at a moment in time when they find themselves right in between worlds. After Orpheus’ descent to the Underworld in an effort to rescue Eurydice, the two of them are on their way back to the Upper World. Eurydice blindly clings to Orpheus, fearful, obviously still one of the shades who inhabit Hades, nearly back in the real world, just one more step to go. Orpheus is yet to look back – against the explicit orders of the gods - and will lose her in just a moment.
Or at the rooftopped headstone: although its inscription is partially lost it certainly houses long forgotten stories, spanning many centuries.
